| INTRODUCTION EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE HOMICIDE |
Archuleta County Sheriff The following pages summarize the crime and arrest statistics reported to the CBI by local law enforcement agencies. The statistics are divided into the categories of Major Offenses, Other Reported Offenses, Primary Arrests, and Other Reported Arrests. If an agency name is not listed, it is because the statistics for that jurisdiction were reported by the respective sheriffs office. Caution must be taken not to compare the number of criminal offenses which occurred to the number of individuals arrested for a particular crime. There is not a direct correlation between the number of individuals arrested and the number of offenses reported. The number of offenses reported are arrived at by using the Uniform Crime Reporting Summary based hierarchy rules. Therefore, although multiple offenses may have occurred in a single incident, only the highest ranking offense is counted. The arrest statistics are based on the number of individuals arrested by a particular agency. An individual is counted only once each time he/she is arrested, and the arrest is counted in the month it occurs (not the month of the crime). Remember , several people can be arrested for the same offense or one person can be arrested on multiple charges. Therefore, if a person is arrested on multiple charges at the same time within the same jurisdiction, the arrest would be counted only once for the most serious offense. The same rule applies whether the arrestee is an adult or a juvenile. |
