Motor Vehicle Theft

• In 2007, a total of 16,353 motor vehicle thefts were reported by law enforcement agencies in Colorado. 
• This is a 19.5% decrease in motor vehicle thefts from 2006. 
• Motor vehicle thefts accounted for 32.7% of the major offenses reported.
• Automobiles accounted for 13,518 or 82.6% of the vehicles stolen.
• Trucks or buses accounted for 1,618 or 9.89% of the vehicles stolen.
• Vehicles classified as other vehicle accounted for 1,217 or 7.44% of the vehicles stolen.
