•The new Concealed Weapon Permit law,
Senate Bill 03-24, effective May 18, 2003, requires
Colorado Sheriffs
to issue permits to individuals who meet the statutory
requirements. In accordance with SB03-24, all applications
will be submitted through your local sheriff’s
office.
•The primary responsibility of the CBI is to conduct
the background check, in accordance with appropriate
Federal
and State law, on behalf of your local Sheriff’s
agency.
•The CBI does not issue concealed carry weapon permits:
only your local sheriff’s agency has the authority
to do so. Questions relating to the issuance of CCW permits
should be directed to your local Sheriff’s
office, since there may be slight variances in
fees and procedures. |
